792 cases of measles have been registered in the country since 12 February, Professor Todor Kantardjiev, Director of the National Center for Infectious and Parasitic Diseases (NCIPD), told BNR.

Turkey and Cuba agreed to establish a study group to work on various vaccines, including for cancer, and medical drugs, the Turkish Health Ministry said on May 27.

There have been 497 cases of measles on the territory of Bulgaria as of April 24. The outbreak in Blagoevgrad Province is fading, but it is growing in Sofia-city and Sofia Province, writes NOVA TV. 

Each year the state allocates BGN 40 million to implement the immunization calendar, which is identical to those of other European countries.

The cases in Bulgaria are already over 460 and the expectations are that they will increase.

Among the infected persons there are healthcare workers - at the Sofia ''Sveta Anna Hospital''  are the most.

There are currently 460 measles patients in our country, 20 of which are working in hospitals, the chief state health inspector, Dr. Angel Kunchev, told BNT. He stressed on the need to vaccinate everyone who, for their work, are more exposed to infection - not only medical but also technical and security staff.

A little over 1 million Bulgarians think vaccines are not safe. This is shown by a study of the Trend Research Center, ordered by "24 Hours".

According to recent reports from international health experts, Europe is currently experiencing a 20-year high in measles cases, including in many countries where it had been mostly eradicated. Within the European Union, Greece has been hit the worst.
