Power Cut Off All Over Bulgaria

The electricity situation is serious in the region of Varna. Regional governor Stoyan Pasev announced that power has been cut off in the municipalities of Devnya and Suvorovo, while all 12 villages in Dalgopol have no electricity. Only the central municipality has power.

Bulgaria Opens Tender for Oil/Gas Exploration in Varna Region

Bulgaria has opened a tender for prospecting for oil and gas in Block 1-24 Kitka in Varna Region.

The tender is part of the government's efforts to reduce Bulgaria's almost complete dependence on Russian gas imports by increasing domestic production.

Block 1-24 Kitka spreads over 704 square kilometers in the southwestern part of Varna Region, in northeastern Bulgaria.

Celebrations Marking Day of Varna to Feature 3-D Water Show

A 3-D water show will be among the spectacles celebrating the Day of Varna, which is marked in the Bulgarian Black Sea capital on August 15.

The show, which is entitled "Fata Morgana - lights above the bay" will be presented at the port and will be part of the concert taking place near the new pedestrian zone next to the maritime station.

Construction of Coastal Station at Port Varna Completed

The construction of the coastal station at Port Varna has been completed.

The coastal station will host an operations center which will manage vessel traffic (VTS Center Varna).

The center will monitor and direct ships north of Cape Emine and also engage in real-time information exchange with the coastal station in Burgas, according to reports of the maritime.bg portal.

Bulgaria Determined to Keep Varna TPP Functioning – Deputy Minister

Bulgaria is determined to rescue the Varna thermal power plant, according to Anton Pavlov, Deputy Minister of Economy.

Pavlov participated Friday in a conference titled "GREAT Energy Summit" in Prague organized by the British Embassy Prague and the British Embassy Sofia.
