Fire Destroys Part Of International Children's Kranevo Summer Camp

A large fire on Thrusday evening destroyed part of the International Children's Kranevo Summer Camp, north of Bulgaria's Varna.

According to the report of the Nova TV national channel, no one was injured and the children who were in the building at the moment, were evacuated in a timely manner. 

1st Pipes for South Stream Gas Pipeline Section Delivered to Varna

The first batch of pipes for the Bulgarian section of the South Stream gas pipeline has been delivered by German company Eurotype to the Port of Varna.

A total of four parallel lines are to be put on the Black Sea seabed, each of which requires over 75 000 pipes. The sea section of the pipeline spans 931 km.

Mayor of Varna District Arrested in Special Operation

The Mayor of the Mladost residential district in Varna, Hristo Hristov, was arrested in a special operation of the State Agency for National Security (DANS).

The district police directorate in the Black Sea city of Varna announced that they had cooperated in the arrest of Hristov and made clear that the full investigation and the reason for the arrest was only known to DANS.

2 Bulgarian Teenagers Try to Scoop BGN 5M Jackpot with Fake Ticket

Two teenagers were detained in Bulgaria's Black Sea city of Varna after attempting to collect the Sports Totalizator BGN 5M jackpot using a fake slip.

The two 19-year-olds tried to hack the Totalizator's database in order to manipulate the numbers, Bulgarian National Radio reports.

Gov't Allowed Start of South Stream Construction in Bulgaria

Bulgaria's former government granted South Stream the first building permit in end-July, the Regional Development Ministry's website reveals.

A document [BG] dating July 31 signed by former Regional Minister Desislava Terzieva shows the construction of a receiving terminal in the Pasha Dere area, near the Black Sea city of Varna and a compressor station.

Bulgaria's Coast City of Varna Promotes Itself In YouTube

The Municipality of Bulgaria's Black Sea city of Varna published on its YouTube channel a video, promoting the city. 

It is part of the city's bid to become European Capital of Culture 2019. 

The video is a little over five minutes long and features bird's eye view of the city and its most notable buildings and sights.

Bulgarian South Stream Section Issued Positive EIA Report

The offshore South Stream gas pipeline section will not have a substantial impact on the environment and the socio-economic sphere in the region of Bulgaria's Varna.

The Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA) report was prepared by international experts from URS Infrastructure and Environment UK Limited.
