Vasil Levski

Security and transparent conditions for business are key to promoting investment and sustainable development of small settlements, said President Rumen Radev during a meeting with the leadership of the Municipality of Straldzha, where the head of state visited.

 Events were held in many places across the country marking the 184th birth anniversary of Bulgarian revolutionary and national hero Vassil Levski. Dubbed the Apostle of Freedom, Levski organized and led a revolutionary movement to liberate Bulgaria from the Ottoman rule. 

Chief of Defense Admiral Emil Eftimov will participate in the solemn ceremony dedicated to sending off the 42nd  Bulgarian military contingent designated to participate in train, advise and assist Resolute Support NATO mission in Afghanistan. The ceremony will take place in Vasil Levski Square in Karlovo starting at 3:30 p.m.

On 19th February, Bulgaria honours the memory of the national hero, Vasil Levski (Vasil Ivanov Kounchev).

Although today Bulgaria marks 148 years since the day he was hung, in the minds of Bulgarian people he remains as immortal.

Bulgaria worships the memory of the Apostle of Freedom. We celebrate 148 years since the hanging of Vasil Levski. This year, because of the pandemic, the ceremony will be different and there will be no politicians.

Throughout the day in front of the Monument to the Apostle there will be an honor guard from the National Guard.

A bomb has exploded in a residential building on Vasil Levski Street in the northwest town of Montana, the regional directorate of the Bulgarian Ministry of the Interior - Montana reported.
