Traffic restrictions will take effect Saturday and Sunday in central Athens due to the "Race for the Cure" run and walk.
The event is part of a global initiative to support women who have dealt with breast cancer.

Gardens Festival | Athens | June 14-16
The Athens Gardens Festival features a lineup of small chamber music ensembles that will be performing in the mornings, starting at 11 a.m., at the National Garden, and in the evenings, starting at 7.30 p.m., at Eleftherias Park on Vassilissis Sofias Avenue over the course of three days. College de France historian Patrick Boucheron will deliver a lecture titled "Between Ancient Greece and the Modern World," at the Athens Concert Hall on Thursday, March 28. The lecture, which starts at 7 p.m., is organized in cooperation with the French Embassy and Institute in Athens, and will be in French with simultaneous translation into Greek.

Public hospital workers to walk off the job on Thursday
The union of Greece's public hospital workers, POEDIN, on Tuesday called a 24-hour strike for Thursday in protest at the looming loss of dozens of patient transporters.
POEDIN is reacting to a government decision outlined in an Interior Ministry draft bill to transfer to local authorities 526 former school guards who had been assigned to help at understaffed public hospitals.
Police detain man wielding knife in yard of Serbian Embassy
Police on Saturday arrested an unidentified man who entered the front yard of the Serbian Embassy on Vasilissis Sofias Street in central Athens wielding a knife.
The incident occurred at around 9.30 a.m., and led to police and a special negotiator being dispatched to the scene but the intruder was quickly arrested.
