The urn containing the ashes of Mirjana Markovic, widow of former Serbian and Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic, was buried next to her late husband in the garden of their family home in the eastern Serbian town of Pozarevac on Saturday.

Markovic, the widow of former Serbia and Yugoslav president Slobodan Milosevic, died last week in Russia.

In the abuse of office case, Markovic was accused of inciting Zivka Cica Knezevic, who at that time was a Serbian government secretary and a member of the government housing commission to give an apartment to Ilona Pesic, a woman who babysat Markovic's grandson.

Mirjana Markovic, the widow of the former president of Yugoslavia, Slobodan Milosevic, died in hospital in Moscow on Sunday, Serbian media reported.

Markovic is reported to have undergone surgery several times in Russia recently, after which her condition deteriorated. The cause of death was not immediately made public.

Markovic - the widow of former Serbian and Yugoslav President Slobodan Milosevic - was first found guilty and sentenced in June last year, on charges of influencing a government commission in 2000 to illegally assign a state-owned apartment to her grandchild's nanny, the daily Blic is reporting.

"The point is not to force [libertarianism] into Serbian culture but to recognise the elements that are compatible with it here … and then see how those ideas are best adapted to Serbia," Cekarevac, Libek's executive manager, says.

That "crypto-depression" emerges, he said, as a result of the constant portrayal of Serbia by its ruling party and loyal media as enjoying a "golden era".

Tomanovic talked about his experiences while working as Slobodan Milosevic's legal adviser in The Hague. In the interview, the lawyer revealed how their last encounter went.

At the trial of Skender Bislimi, accused of torturing Kosovo Albanians in 1999, his former neighbour testified that Serb paramilitaries beat her relatives and forced them to sing about Slobodan Milosevic.

This is according to a survey conducted ahead of the 19th anniversary of the start of NATO's bombing of the country.
