As Sofia gears up to bid farewell to 2023 and usher in the new year, the city promises a vibrant tapestry of cultural events and performances spanning outdoor and indoor venues. The Bulgarian capital is set to host a plethora of concerts, theatrical productions, and festive gatherings, creating a diverse and engaging celebration for residents and guests alike.

The recent charity show held at the Ivan Vazov National Theatre as part of the Bulgarian Christmas initiative amassed a remarkable donation exceeding BGN 2,550,000, announced by the President's Press Secretariat.

Bulgarian authorities detained a group of 48 illegal migrants in Sofia. They were caught in the capital's "Hadji Dimitar" district.

The men claimed to be from Afghanistan and Syria. They were transported on a bus with a foreign registration. It was stopped by the police on "Vladimir Vazov Blvd".

"Dear compatriots. I want to ask you, are you satisfied with what you see in this hall? Do you like the election result? Do you like that, once again, the National Assembly will gather not representatives of the people, but a majority of an indiscriminate Euro-Atlantic crowd.

Another three kilometers of the subway will be ready by the end of 2025. The seventeenth edition of the charity initiative Bulgarian Christmas, which aims to support the treatment of children and to provide high-tech medical equipment for diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation, continues. More than BGN 1 910 000 has reached the amount raised after the end of the charity spectacle, which took place on Christmas Day at the Ivan Vazov National Theater.

On 17th of September, Bulgaria's capital celebrates St. Sofia Day - the day on which the Orthodox church commemorates the Holy Martyrs Sofia and her three daughters Faith, Hope and Love.

The festive program begins at 11:30 am with an official ceremony of raising the flag of the city in front of St. Sofia Temple.
