Verheijen: It is vital govt. respects deadline for 10 firms

WB: Serbians reluctant to start own business

A World Bank entrepreneurship survey has shown that Serbian citizens believe it is too risky to start a business.

World Bank Country Manager for Serbia Tony Verheijen said this on Monday, advising that the government continues making effort to simplify administrative procedures and make starting a business easier for people.

Spending cuts will have no effect without economic growth

KOPAONIK - World Bank (WB) Country Manager for Serbia Tony Verheijen has said that the fiscal consolidation will not yield results in Serbia just by itself, if not followed by an economic growth.

At the Kopaonik Business Forum, Verheijen said that the fiscal consolidation is not a goal unto itself, but rather a means for achieving the real objective-economic growth.

Negotiations on WB loan to follow adoption of reform laws

KOPAONIK - The World Bank (WB) will start negotiations with the new Serbian government on a USD 250 million loan towards budgetary support as soon as reform laws are adopted and a restructuring of 153 state and socially-owned companies is initiated, Tony Verheijen, the World Bank Country Manager for Serbia, told Tanjug on Tuesday.
