YouTube Shorts touts 1.5 bln users, taking on rival TikTok
YouTube said that more than 1.5 billion people monthly tune into its Shorts video service, which competes with global sensation TikTok.
Alphabet-owned YouTube and Facebook-parent Meta both added short-form video sharing formats to their services after TikTok, which late last year said it topped a billion users, became the rage.

Social media, news websites hit by major internet outage
Multiple outages hit social media, government and news websites across the globe on June 8 morning, with some reports pointing to a glitch at U.S.-based cloud computing services provider Fastly.
Reuters could not immediately confirm the issue affecting the sites.

Turkey bans ads on Twitter, Periscope, Pinterest
Turkey banned social media sites that have failed to hire local representatives from advertising on Jan. 19, according to the Official Gazette.
Last October, a new social media law came into effect in the country which obligates social media sites that are accessed over a million times per day in Turkey to hire a local representative.
