Turkey bans ads on Twitter, Periscope, Pinterest
Turkey banned social media sites that have failed to hire local representatives from advertising on Jan. 19, according to the Official Gazette.
Last October, a new social media law came into effect in the country which obligates social media sites that are accessed over a million times per day in Turkey to hire a local representative.

Facebook says starts process of appointing Turkey representative
Facebook Inc said on Jan. 18 it had started the process of appointing a legal entity as a local representative in Turkey in compliance with a new social media law.
Last year, Turkey imposed a fine of 40 million Turkish liras ($5.43 million) on multiple social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, for not complying with the law.
YouTube to appoint legal representative to Turkey
In line with a new law, YouTube on Dec. 16 announced it will set up a legal entity in Turkey to serve as a local representative, providing a local point of contact for the government.

The Family, Labor and Social Services Ministry has taken legal action against four YouTube accounts broadcasting animations with child abuse contents.
The videos posted on the platform have had many views, ranging from 300,000 to 4 million.
