People in the 27-nation European Union can alter some of what shows up when they search, scroll and share on the biggest social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram and Facebook and other tech giants like Google and Amazon.

Recent "challenge" trends on social media, which push children to compete and display power over themselves and each other and sometimes result in deaths and serious injuries around the world, have also spread among children in Türkiye, experts have warned.

An IT law expert has revealed a disturbing trend where criminal gangs blackmail children using explicit content, leveraging their admiration for celebrities as a trap.

Recently, soaring numbers of children and young people are "catfished" through fake accounts while trying to meet a movie artist or a football player on social media platforms such as Instagram and TikTok.
