The Council of State, Türkiye's top administrative court, has issued a landmark ruling declaring it unlawful to subject judges to pat-downs when X-ray screening devices raise alarms at airport entrances.

Wizz Air, the fastest growing airline in Europe and the most environmentally sustainable in the world*, this weekend launched its flights from Sofia to the Armenian capital of Yerevan. Flights from Sofia to Yerevan will be operated twice a week - on Wednesdays and Sundays, allowing passengers to enjoy the destination for both leisure and business trips.

Opening new routes in Europe and the Middle East, AnadoluJet, a subsidiary of national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, is set to increase flights to touristic hotspots on the Turkish Riviera this summer, it said in a statement on March 31. 

The pandemic has an extremely negative impact on civil aviation. Passenger flows have plummetd not only to and from Bulgaria, this is a global problem, especially strongly felt on a European scale. Such a catastrophic situation has probably not happened since World War II.

Yet Sofia Airport is still running, more than most other airports in the Balkans. And it is not without controversy.

According to the company's website, the option is available for Air Serbia flights from Belgrade, Banjaluka, Podgorica, Sarajevo, Skopje, Tivat, Zagreb, Athens, Thessaloniki, Sofia, Tirana and Bucharest.

Greece is the preferred destination for Austrian tourists this year based on the number of flights to Greece, which exceed 15 weekly from the airports of Austrian cities.

Leading Greek carrier Aegean Air announced on Wednesday the addition of seven new destinations to its flight schedule for this year.
