Hoard of Viking coins unearthed in Denmark
Nearly 300 silver coins believed to be more than 1,000 years old have been discovered near a Viking fortress site in northwestern Denmark, a museum said on April 20.
The rare trove, lying in two spots not far apart, was unearthed by a young girl who was metal detecting in a cornfield last autumn.

Melting glaciers in the mountains northwest of Oslo, Norway have revealed a mountain pass from the Viking era.
Archaeological remains dating back to 300 AD were found in the Lendbreen pass, the U.K.'s Daily Mail newspaper reported.
