Hungary threatens to close border with Serbia

Hungary could completely close the border with Serbia to stop the influx of migrants to its territory, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has warned.

"It's not fair to send us refugees, they should be stopped in the Serbian territory," Orban told the Hungarian Public Radio Kossuth. He added that a meeting with Serbian officials is planned for early July.

Hungary's Orban Opposes EU Proposed Immigrant Quotas

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has openly stated his opposition to the proposed by EU measures on immigration. According to the proposal, immigrants coming into the EU would be distributed among the member states on a quota principle, based on GDP, population, and number of currently hosted immigrants. 

Hungary to Classify Paks NPP Expansion Deal for 30 Years

Hungarian Parliament approved on Tuesday the classification of some data in the contract on the expansion of the Paks nuclear power plant for a period of 30 years rather than 15.

Hungary will take EUR 10 B loan from Russia for the upgrade of its only nuclear power plant, which will be constructed by Rosatom, Daily News Hungary reports.

Vucic and Orban meet in Subotica

BUDAPEST - Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban met for an informal meeting in Serbia's northernmost city, Subotica, and discussed ways to strengthen cooperation between the two countries, the Hungarian prime minister's press office said in a release Tuesday.

Russia's Putin to Discuss Energy Ties in Hungary Visit

The renewal of long-term contracts for gas supplies and further energy cooperation are expected top the agenda of Russian President Vladimir Putin during his visit to Budapest on Tuesday.

Putin is to meet Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban in what will be his first trip to an EU country since June 2014.
