Israel's ambassador to Romania David Saranga said on Tuesday that during the coronavirus pandemic domestic violence had risen and showed that anyone experiencing it "must speak up" and take action. He made a donation consisting of household appliances and non-perishable food to the Casa Agar Maternal Centre of the Touched Romania Association.

NGO Charges Croatian Police With ‘Inhumane Treatment of Refugees’

An already worrying situation with domestic and gender-based violence in Bulgaria has worsened during the state of emergency, according to an NGO working in the field, the Sofia-based Bulgarian Fund for Women.

Eight women have lost their lives after being killed by their partner since the state of emergency was imposed on March 13, the fund said.

Petralona attack being probed

Police in the Athens neighborhood of Petralona on Wednesday were investigating an attack on a young man by a group of assailants that left him with injuries including knife wounds.
The victim was approached and encircled by the attackers in Merkouri Square, according to the police, who did not give details about the suspected motive for the attack.
