No deportation for father who reported sexual abuse of child

Police said on Thursday that a man who informed the authorities that his child had been sexually abused on the island of Nisyros will not be deported, after it was revealed that he had been banned from entering into the country.

Instead, the man, whose nationality has not been revealed, was given 25 days "to further arrange his outstanding matters," police said in a press release.

They don’t care about us

15-year-old claims to have been sexually abused by fellow pupils

Police are investigating allegations of sexual abuse involving a 15-year-old pupil, with three individuals currently detained in connection with the case. 

The incident reportedly occurred during a school excursion to the northwestern city of Ioannina, where the victim, from Greece's central Pilio region, claims to have been sexually abused while asleep by fellow pupils. 

Police make two arrests for child sexual abuse

Police have announced the arrest over the weekend of two men on separate charges of sexually abusing minors.

On Saturday, a 55-year-old Greek national was arrested on a warrant issued after an investigation found he had attempted to rape his daughters while her mother was not at home. The alleged offences occurred between 2014 and 2019, when his daughters were aged 9 and 12.

A 42-year-old man was arrested in Athens on Saturday for torturing and abusing a 21-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man who are intellectually disabled, and posting the abuse online.

The suspect, who was arrested by officers from the Anti-Racist Violence Unit, is accused of causing bodily harm, verbal abuse and pimping, as well as breaching the weapons act.

The child was beaten a week ago in the village of Hersovo, where he lived with his mother and stepfather. The mayor reported his condition, as the boy was locked up at home so that the bruises and swelling on his body would not be noticed.

A 28-year-old man beat his girlfriend to death in Omurtag, with whom he lived on a family basis.

The crime was committed in the conditions of domestic violence in a particularly painful way for the victim and with particular cruelty, announced the prosecutor's office in Targovishte.

The case is from yesterday, and the victim is a 21-year-old woman.
