Prosecutors seek one year in jail for police officers accused of torture, eight years for victim
Prosecutors have asked for between 1.5 months and 13 months in prison for two of three police officers standing trial for beating and torturing a woman while in custody, while asking for the acquittal of a third officer, daily Milliyet reported June 6.

BELGRADE -- Construction works were launched on Monday in Vranjska Banja to build a safe house for women who are victims of domestic violence.
The works will be completed by the end of this year.

Thessaloniki police arrest man suspected in 9 rape cases
A 31-year-old man was arrested in Thessaloniki on Saturday on suspicion of nine attempted rapes in the city.
The suspect is alleged to have followed women into their apartment buildings and then assaulted them.
He is believed to have carried out the attacks between November 2013 and this month.

A prosecution witness told the trial for crimes committed at Mt Igman that he twice had blood in his urine after being beaten by a soldier, whose name he heard was Nedzad Hodzic.

Bosniak Fighter Accused of Prisoner Abuse ‘Acted Abnormally’
At the trial of two Bosniak fighters for the torture, beatings and sexual abuse of prisoners on Mount Igman in 1993, a witness said one defendant behaved “abnormally” because of wartime stress.
