Real drama took place in Hong Kong on Monday. Authorities ordered the evacuation of an apartment building there, after it was confirmed that two residents were infected with a coronavirus.

A Chinese woman, a permanent resident of Cyprus, is being treated at Nicosia General Hospital on suspicion of being a coronavirus carrier.

The death toll from the new infection in Wuhan has recently reached 908, with over 40.000 cases confirmed around the world. The number of those who contracted coronavirus in the United Kingdom had grown to eight.
According to previous reports, at least four UK nationals were infected after spending time at a ski resort in France.

There is a risk for the coronavirus to be spread outside China by people who have never traveled to this country.

Amid a spike in serious flu cases, Greece's National Health Organization (EODY) has underlined the importance of people getting the flu vaccine.

The warning comes despite the revelation that, of the serious flu cases recorded to date, one in three had been vaccinated. The death toll from the flu virus since October rose to 38 last week, according to EODY.

An American became the first confirmed non-Chinese victim of the new coronavirus on Feb. 8 while a Japanese man also died with symptoms consistent with the disease, as the epidemic looked set to pass the death toll from the SARS pandemic.   

Turkey will suspend imports from China of all kinds of animal products as new measures to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus, Health Minister Fahrettin Koca announced on Feb. 7.

Koca said all imports of living and non-living animals, animal and waste products would be halted temporarily.
