Firefighters Put out Blaze at Film Studios in Bulgaria's Boyana

Firefighters extinguished a blaze at the film studios in Boyana, on the outskirts of Bulgarian capital Sofia, bTV reported on Friday.

Four fire engines fought the flames that engulfed film sets on an area of some 400 sq. m.

No one was injured in the incident, the Ministry of the Interior said earlier on Friday.

A fire has broken out at the film studios in Boyana, on the outskirts of Sofa, the Ministry of the Interior said on Friday.

Four fire engines were fighting the blaze that spread on an area of some 400 sq. m. of film sets.

No one has been injured in the fire, according to a statement from the ministry.

Abandoned Luggage Triggers Bomb Scare in Central Sofia

An alert sent to the emergency hotline 112 left a key junction in the center of Bulgaria's capital Sofia sealed off for nearly an hour on Monday evening.

A controlled detonation was carried out after police cordoned off the junction of Vitosha and General Skobelev Blvds, meters from the National Palace of Culture.

A team of the specalized anti-terror squad was also deployed.

New Station on Line 2 of Sofia Underground to be Opened on July 31

The Vitosha station on line 2 of the underground in the Bulgarian capital will be opened on July 31.

This was announced by the mayor of Sofia, Yordanka Fandakova, who inspected the progress of construction of the new station on Tueday.

At present construction works have been completed at 75 %, daily Dnevnik informs.

Rescuers Warn of Considerable Danger of Avalanches in Bulgarian Mountains

The director of the mountain rescue service, Radko Markov, warned on Friday that there is a considerable danger of avalanches occurring in the Bulgarian mountains.

Markov recommended to tourists to prepare well before going out in the mountain by researching the route and avoiding areas prone to avalanches in order to minimise the risks of being engulfed by an avalanche.

Avalanche in Bulgaria's Vitosha Mountain Kills Two People

An avalanche occurred in the Vitosha mountain overlooking the Bulgarian capital of Sofia on Thursday.

The mountain rescue service said that it is looking for two tourists who were in the region of the Aleko chalet where the avalanche occurred.

The rescue operation is ongoing with 14 rescuers and two dogs participating in it.

BGN 0.6 M Fines for Bulgarian Capital Renovation Contractors

Sofia Municipality imposes BGN 600 000 fines on the contractors of the project for the renovation of the area around the National Palace of Culture (NDK), said Yordanka Fandakova, Mayor of Bulgaria's capital Sofia in an interview for bTV.

The major reason is that the contractors have been returning up to seven times in order to finish renovation of the park area in front of NDK.
