In a move that will affect millions of Bulgarian mobile users, major telecom operators A1, Vivacom, and Yettel have announced significant increases in their monthly subscription fees, starting March 1st. The decision comes amid growing concerns over the rising costs of telecommunications services and the impact on consumers' wallets.

The three Bulgarian telecom operators - Vivacom, A1 and Yettel - have restricted internet access to some Russian state media, including TASS and RIA Novosti. This has happened quietly and without clear regulations and procedures, writes Bulgarian media "Capital" and adds that the story is even more complicated because in practice no one knows who is responsible.

United Group has reached an agreement with Crystal Almond Holdings Limited for the acquisition of Wind Hellas.

The deal is reportedly worth 950m euros.

Providing mobile, landline and television services, Wind has a total of 4.2 million users and has revenues of over € 500 million per year.

The Bulgarian incumbent telco Vivacom generated 29% of United Group's revenues in the first quarter.

The Balkan telecommunications and media company United Group, owned by BC Partners, has announced that it has agreed to acquire Bulgaria's leading telecommunications operator Vivacom, Reuters reported. The amount at which the transaction will be executed is not disclosed.

The country's biggest operator has been put up for sale after a court ruling appeared to draw a line under a long-standing dispute about the company's ownership.

There have been multiple legal challenges around legitimate ownership of shares as well as the sale process since the business was acquired at auction in 2015.

The English Commercial Court has dismissed an attempt by offshore entities to challenge the ownership of Vivacom, Bulgaria's largest telecoms network, just as the company is marketed to new investors.

It is expected that the auctions for the 5G frequencies in Bulgaria will be held next year, Radoslav Zlatkov, Chief Technical Officer of the Telecommunications Company Vivacom, told reporters.
