Ex-soldier Milenko Gojgolovic's lawyer Miodrag Stojanovic told BIRN on Wednesday that the District Court in East Sarajevo acquitted his client "due to a lack of evidence".

Gojgolovic was a member of the Territorial Defence force in Vlasenica and later became a member of the Vlasenica Light Infantry Brigade of the Bosnian Serb Army's Drina Corps.

The Bosnian state prosecution filed an indictment on Wednesday charging Predrag Bastah with crimes against humanity for his alleged participation in the murders of 37 Bosniak civilians at Mracni Dol in the Vlasenica municipality.

Former soldier Rade Garic was charged with persecuting Bosniaks by committing murders, torture, rape and other crimes in the Vlasenica and Srebrenica areas in 1992 and 1995.

Prosecutors in Bosnia-Herzegovina says they have charged a Bosnian Serb mayor and three other former police officers with war crimes committed during the 1992-1995 war that followed the breakup of Yugoslavia.

The mayor of Vlasenica and three other ex-policemen have been charged with the wartime murders, forcible disappearances, unlawful detention, torture and abuse of Bosniak civilians in the Vlasenica area.
