Türkiye and Greece decided to mutually support the candidacies of the two countries in international organizations, Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said on March 20.

Çavuşoğlu met with his Greek counterpart Nikos Dendias in Brussels on the sidelines of the International Donors Conference.

Volkan Bozkır, president of the 75th session of the U.N. General Assembly (UNGA), handed over his position on Sept. 14 to former Maldives Foreign Minister Abdulla Shahid in a farewell speech. 

The Turkish diplomat heading the U.N. General Assembly has arrived in Ankara, his home country's capital, as part of an official visit.

Volkan Bozkır, The Turkish diplomat heading the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), said on March 31 that he will depart on his first official trip since taking office to visit Turkey, Qatar and Azerbaijan.

He said his stops will include Hatay in Turkey where he will meet Syrian refugees and visit the U.N. cross-border humanitarian mechanism.

U.S. President-elect Joe Biden has sent a letter to Volkan Bozkır, the President of the United Nations General Assembly, Bozkır announced on his Twitter account on Jan. 4.

"We look forward to working with you and the U.N. General Assembly on addressing the range of issues and opportunities," Biden said in the letter.

An agreement signed on August 6 this year for the partial demarcation of maritime boundaries between Greece and Egypt was posted on the United Nation's Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea on Thursday, by the organisation's Office of Legal Affairs.

The Turkish ambassador is the only candidate for the U.N. General Assembly Presidency and is expected to be elected in June, said Turkey's Foreign Ministry on May 16.  

In a message marking Europe Day, the head of the EU Delegation to Ankara on May 9 said Turkey is "very close" to the European Union.

A group of former Justice and Development Party (AKP) ministers and other senior figures from the ruling party shared their concerns over the upcoming referendum at a April 16 meeting with Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım, according to sources.
