German giant Volkswagen is set to follow Tesla's lead with a high-profile price drop as the battle for global dominance in the electric car segment intensifies, and local challengers race ahead in key market China.
EVs picking up amid declining new car sales
New car sales in Slovenia fell by 14% last year after recovering by 3% in 2021 following a 27% drop in 2020, the year worst affected by Covid-19. Of the 46,339 cars registered in the country for the first time last year, 9,170 were electric vehicles, a rise of 12% on the year before, data from the Chamber of Commerce shows.

Lamborghini has already sold all its cars until 2024
Italian sports car maker Lamborghini has already pre-sold the entire production run to early 2024, its boss has said, with luxury goods seemingly unaffected by global economic uncertainty.
The Volkswagen subsidiary is enjoying "high demand" and has an order book covering the next 18 months, CEO Stephan Winkelmann said.
