Romania's new automotive sales were up 6.3 pct in Q1 2019 compared to the same period last year, standing at 38,253 units, the Association of Automotive Manufacturers and Importers (APIA) said in release on Tuesday. The market analysis shows that domestic sales are further mainly supported by legal entities that account for 72 pct of the total car purchases in the first three months of 2019.

Amid many rumors over recent months, it has been reported that German automotive giant Volkswagen (VW) will decide where to build its new plant at the end of November, with Turkey and Bulgaria standing out as the two strongest candidates for the company to invest in.

A man assaulted his girlfriend and set her car on fire, police said.

Serbia's President Aleksandar Vucic said in a televised interview last night that his country is struggling under the toughest conditions with four more countries - Bulgaria, Romania, Turkey and Ukraine - for a Volkswagen factory in Serbia.

The new Volkswagen Factory in East Europe, which will produce Skoda cars, will have an annual capacity of 350,000 cars. This is clear from the statement of Chief Executive Officer of the Skoda subsidiary, Bernhard Meyer.

Vucic was in Hanover, Germany on Wednesday where he with the minister president of the German state of Lower Saxony, which has a 21 percent stake in the world's largest car manufacturer.

This factory has not, Kostic said, achieved expected results in the production of Skoda models - one of the 12 brands of the largest car manufacturer in the world.
