Firefighting efforts continue against Pieria wildfire
Firefighting operations persist on Monday against a wildfire that erupted Sunday noon in the northern regional unit of Pieria.
The rugged terrain and dense vegetation hamper efforts to contain the blaze, the firefighting department reported. The fire, situated at an altitude of 1,700 meters amid tall deciduous and coniferous trees, primarily burns dead fuel and foliage.

Fire in Voula and Vari: The fiery front is in recession – Aircraft in the fray since morning
The fiery front that started yesterday from Pournari in Glyfada and has spread due to the strong winds towards Panorama Voulas and Vari is in recession.

Ljubljana – A firefighters’ trade union is critical of the government-proposed changes to the fire service act, as it says it was not involved in the drafting of the amendments. Vilia – The fire is out of control
The situation because of the big fire in the area of Vilia is dramatic. At night five more settlements were evacuated (Thea, Panorama, Paleochori, Paleokoundoura and Agia Sotira) and the nursing home "Panagia Faneromeni", as the flames that spread on a large front approached residential areas burning dense and inaccessible virgin pine forest on Mount Patera.
