Inspectors condemn 40 homes for demolition following Attica wildfires
Inspectors have condemned 40 homes for demolition and declared another 64 temporarily unfit for use, following last week's fires in northeastern Attica which burned about 10,000 hectares of land.
The inspections were carried out in the municipalities of Dionysos, Halandri, Marathon, Pallini, Penteli, Rafina-Pikermi, and Oropos and Vrilissia.
Firefighters calm deadly Athens inferno
Greek emergency services fought back Tuesday against a massive wildfire that scorched the Athens suburbs, killing a woman, causing widespread damage and sending thousands of people fleeing from their homes.
A fire department spokesperson told AFP that "pockets of flame" were being dealt with but there were no longer "areas of particular concern".

Fire-affected municipalities to receive emergency funding of 4.7 mln euros
The Interior Ministry has allocated emergency funding to eight municipalities in Attica affected by recent wildfires.
The total amount of 4.7 million euros was agreed upon after discussions between the interior and finance ministries, the Central Union of Municipalities of Greece, and the mayors of northeastern Attica.
