Istanbul Municipality lifeguards save 4,800 people from drowning in summer
The Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality has announced that lifeguards in its fire brigade department have saved 4,800 people in the province over the course of this summer, state-run Anadolu Agency reported on Sept. 20.

Ghostly graveyard of 60 perfectly preserved ancient shipwrecks is found at the Black Sea (VIDEO-10 PHOTOS)
Dozens of perfectly preserved ancient shipwrecks have been found at the bottom of the Black Sea.
A total of 60 wrecks were discovered dating back as far as 2,500 years, including galleys from the Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman empires.
Scientists stumbled upon the graveyard while using underwater robots to survey the effects of climate change along the Bulgarian coast.
Scientists Reveal Black Sea's Underwater Treasures
Members of three international field expeditions that explored the Black Sea between 2015 and 2017 presented the results of their work on Tuesday in the Black Sea port of Burgas.
The Black Sea MAP project, one of the largest maritime archaeological projects ever, revealed 60 well-preserved shipwrecks that illustrate the history of more than two millennia of seafaring.

NIMH: Cloudy Weather With Maximum Temperatures Between 27°C and 32°C
There will be some clouds today, but it will be mostly sunny, reported the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) with the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, quoted by FOCUS News Agency.
There will be light south-southeast wind. Maximum temperatures will range between 27°C and 32°C, in Sofia - around 28°C.

It will be mostly sunny today. Rain is not expected. The wind from northwest will increase, moderate to strong in the Danube Plain. The morning will feel cool. The daily temperatures will rise slightly reaching highs of 23°C to 28°C.

Cyprus at risk of becoming a desert island
A toxic combination of decreasing rainfall, the abandonment of rural areas and an increase in water consumption over the past few decades has resulted in more than half the island of Cyprus being in immediate danger of desertification. Just 1.5 percent of the land area - the ridge of the Troodos mountain range - is not deemed to be at any such risk.

NIMH: Mostly Sunny Today With Temperatures of Up to 32°
The weather today will be mostly sunny, but the morning will be quite cool, weathermen of the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology with the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences say.
Light northeasterly wind will be felt in the southeastern parts of the country.
The highs will vary between 27 and 32 C, the highest expected temperature in Sofia is 27 C.
A Specialized Team in Burgas Destroyed the Naval Mine Near the 'Coral' Beach
A specialized team in Burgas yesterday destroyed the naval mine which was found near the Coral beach in Tsarevo, the Ministry of Defense announced, quoted by BGNES.
The actions of the team were lead by Captain lll rank Krasimir Ivanov.
The naval mine is from type ''mining defender'' and was about 30 meters away from the coastline.
Serbia: Damage to crops from drought to exceed USD 1bn

The drought has reduced agricultural output by about 20 percent compared to the average annual yield, and by 30 percent compared to the previous, record year.
That is why the lost value exceeds a billion dollars, says Milan Prostran, an agriculture expert.
