Suicide bomber kills five in Afghanistan
A suicide bomber blew himself up at a bank close to the heavily protected U.S. embassy in the Afghan capital Kabul yesterday, killing at least five people and wounding eight, the interior ministry said.
The bomber hit the entrance to a Kabul Bank branch in the well-off area of Kabul, ministry spokesman Najib Danish said. He said at least five people had been killed and eight wounded.

Pakistan launches "massive" air and ground anti-Taliban offensive
Pakistani troops on May 15 began a "massive" offensive to try to push the Taliban from their last major stronghold in the mountainous northwestern region of North Waziristan, moving in from north and south, officials and residents said.
Taliban Attack School in Pakistan
At least 20 people have been killed and 40 hurt in a Taliban assault on an army-run school in the Pakistani city of Peshawar, officials say, quoted by the international media.
Five or six militants wearing security uniforms entered the school, officials said. Gunfire and explosions were heard as security forces surrounded the area.

At least 95 killed in Taliban attack on Pakistan school: officials
At least 95 people including 82 children were killed Tuesday when Taliban militants stormed an army-run school in Pakistan's northwestern city of Peshawar, hospital officials said.
The Lady Reading hospital received 26 bodies including 23 students, according to Jamil Shah, a spokesman.
