Staff shortages close down some Petrol service stations
Ljubljana – Slovenia’s largest fuel retailer Petrol has temporarily shut down some of its service stations across the country or shortened their opening hours due to a shortage of staff as a result of an increase in Covid-19 infections.
Weiler Abrasives profitable in 2021
Maribor – Weiler Abrasives, the US-owned maker of abrasives, brushes and diamond tools, saw sales revenue rise by 16% last year to EUR 77.5 million. After barely ending in the black in 2020, it posted a profit of just over EUR 4 million.

NBI boss confirms charges filed over Covid emergency procurement
Ljubljana – Petra Grah Lazar, director of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), has confirmed for the news portal Siol that the bureau has referred to the prosecution a criminal complaint in an abuse of office investigation into the purchases of personal protective equipment and ventilators during the early stages of the Covid-19 epidemic.
Delo says more real estate could soon be on the market
Ljubljana – A record number of building permits were issued in Slovenia last year, which means journalists could soon start writing about something else than just a shortage of flats and skyrocketing prices, the newspaper Delo says in its front-page commentary on Saturday.
Consumer confidence unchanged in January
Ljubljana – Slovenia’s consumer confidence indicator remained the same on the monthly level in January, while it increased by five percentage points year-on-year, the Statistics Office said on Friday.
