Romanian female weightlifter Madalina Bianca Molie on Monday won a gold and two silver medals in the women's U-23 64 kg class at the European Junior&U-23 Weightlifting Championships in Bucharest. The Batumi 2019 European Weightlifting Championships silver and bronze medallist won the gold for a 90 kg snatch, but ended second in the clean and jerk event with 111 kilos.

Romanian athletes Irina Lepsa and Nicolae Onica this weekend landed on the podium of the 12th Weightlifting IWF Mediterranean Cup in Serravalle - San Marino, a 'Silver' Olympic qualification tournament, the Romanian Weightlifting Federation announced on its Facebook page.

Romanian weightlifters won nine medals on Sunday on the first day of the European European Youth Weightlifting Championships, the Under-15 and Under-17 categories in Milan, Italy, seven golds and two bronzes.

Three gold medals each went to weightlifters Dorina Tofan and Alice Halmac in the U-15 girls' events.

Bulgaria's weightlifting federation said on Friday that it had paid a USD 250,000 (EUR 214,000) fine to lift a doping ban on its team competing internationally. The ban was imposed by the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) in mid-2015 after Bulgaria's entire team of eleven athletes tested positive for stanozolol, an anabolic steroid that stimulates increased muscle tissue.
