Army disarms WWII bomb found in southern Athens
An army bomb disposal unit on Thursday neutralized a World War II 500lb bomb that was found in the southern Athenian suburb of Glyfada.
The army unit used thermite, a pyrotechnic composition of metal powder and metal oxide used, among others, to disable munitions without the use of explosive charges.

Daihen Varstroj unveils €2.5m investment in robotisation
Daihen Varstroj, a Japanese-owned manufacturer of high-tech welding gear and provider of robotics solutions, has completed a €2.5 million expansion of production capacity that provides the Lendava-based company with the ability to make large-size robotic cells and with additional space for the storage of robotic components.
‘100 women to receive welding training this year’
With an aim to train 100 females in the field of welding, a social welfare foundation has opened a course in which its trainees get the right to take an international proficiency exam after completing 90 hours of training.
Gedik Education Foundation has started to provide training in welding, a male-dominant sector, to women.
