The Government Allocates Further BGN 80 Million for Long-term Unemployed and Unqualified Citizens

Additional BGN 80 million are provided by the government to tackle unemployment in Bulgaria. Money will be directed to long-term unemployed and unskilled people. This is what Deputy Social Minister Zornitsa Rusinova told in front of the Bulgarian National Television.

Households in Ankara have highest equalized disposable income in Turkey: Survey

The capital Ankara again had the highest annual average equalized household disposable income in Turkey in 2016 at 26,486 Turkish Liras, followed by Istanbul and the Aegean province of İzmir, according to the results of an official survey published on Sept. 25. 

NSI: Poverty Line for Bulgaria Was BGN 308.17 in 2016

In 2016, the average monthly poverty line for the country was BGN 308.17 per capita. The number of people below this line was 1,638,700, equal to 22.9% of the population, the National Statistics Institute (NSI) said.
The poverty line decreased by 5.4% compared to the previous year, while the share of poor population increased by 0.9 percentage points.

Stats Show Fewer Workers - and Fewer Jobless - in Croatia

Although recent statistics show Croatia had the biggest annual drop in the unemployment rate in the EU last year, figures also show the number of people in work in Croatia has also declined.

A report published on Tuesday by the EU statistical agency Eurostat said Croatia's unemployment rate fell from 15 per cent in December 2015 to 11.4 per cent in December 2016.

34% of Bulgarians Live in Dire Straits

Over 34% of Bulgarians live in dire straits.

Given a poverty threshold of BGN 325, 1.5 million people or 22% of the population were below this level, showed statistical data about the indicators on poverty and social inclusion for 2015.

Compared to the previous year, the poverty threshold increased by 0.6% and the relative share of the pour population rose by 0.2%.
