At least three people were killed and seven were injured in an earthquake on the Indonesian island of Bali, Xinhua reported, citing local authorities.

A magnitude 4.8 earthquake shook the eastern part of the island at 11:18 pm local time on Friday, according to the US Gros. The hearth of the quake is at a depth of 10 kilometers.

According to the US Geological Survey, an earthquake with a magnitude of 6.4 hit the eastern Indonesian province.

At the moment there are no reports of damage or casualties from the earthquake. The earthquake hit at a depth of 10 km about 100 km southeast of Kupang, capital of the province of East Nusa Tenggara.

The powerful quake is 7.0 on the Richter scale - prompting terrified holidaymakers at the tourist hotspot to scramble for safety. 

Model Chrissy Teigen, who is on holiday on the island with husband John Legend, told her 10.6million Twitter fans how she walked outside naked clutching her newborn baby Miles as the tremor hit.

Indonesia mounted a rescue operation on July 30 to reach more than 500 hikers and guides stranded by landslides on an active volcano on Lombok, a day after a powerful earthquake struck the holiday island.

Eight foreigners and five Indonesians were rescued Monday two days after their tourist boat sank during a storm in the archipelago, with one man describing how they huddled in a lifeboat and floated in life jackets to survive.
      

Ten foreign tourists were missing on Aug. 17 after a boat travelling between islands in eastern Indonesia sank, while 10 others had been rescued, search and rescue officials said.
