Food prices soar to record levels on Ukraine war disruptions
World food prices hit an all-time high in March as Russia's invasion of breadbasket Ukraine has disrupted wheat and coarse grain exports, the United Nation's Food and Agriculture Organization said on April 8.
The FAO's food price index surged by 12.6 percent between February and March, "making a giant leap to a new highest level since its inception in 1990," said the FAO.
Turkey not to suffer shortage in grains
No problems will occur in grain supplies until the new harvest season, the Agriculture and Forestry Ministry has said after the Ukraine-Russia crisis erupted.
"It is envisaged that no supply shortage will emerge in grains, particularly wheat, until the next harvest season," the ministry said in a written statement on Feb. 24.

Abundant harvest for most of crops in 2020
Ljubljana – Harvest of principal crops in Slovenia was abundant last year, with farmers reporting increases of 17% in cereals for grain, 35% in potatoes and 19% in dry fodder compared to 2019, provisional data from the Statistics Office (SURS) show. The harvest of fruits in orchards and grapes in vineyards was also excellent.

Bulgaria: Wheat Production is Expected to be 15% Higher this Year
After a record low harvest last year in 2021, about 5.8 million tons are expected to be produced in Bulgaria, which is 15% more than last year's harvest.
The forecast is of the Center for Economic Research in Agriculture, BNR reports. According to the first forecasts of the Center, the average yield of wheat from the new harvest will be about 490 kilograms per decare.
