One woman was injured and 13 people were arrested on Wednesday night in clashes between far-right groups and anti-fascists in central Athens, following gatherings on the 10th anniversary of the murder of two members of the neo-Nazi party Golden Dawn. 

A total of 60 people were detained. 

Greek police and intelligence services are monitoring activity at the country's borders for the possible arrival of neo-Nazi and other far-right demonstrators responding to a call from local like-minded groups planning a rally in Athens on Wednesday.

The Bucharest Court of Appeal opened an extradition procedure to the US for the US far-rightist of Romanian origin Robert Paul Rundo, 33, arrested last week by Romanian authorities in a gym in Bucharest.

"In Bulgaria there are structures and organizations that openly support Nazism, they regularly organize a march in the name of the ideologist of Bulgarian Nazism and a torchlight procession in honor of a Bulgarian accomplice of the fascists - military pilot Dimitar Spisarevski.

A string of violent incidents show the far-right in Greece did not die when leaders of the neo-Nazi Golden Dawn were convicted in October 2020.

The European Parliament has penalized a Greek neo-Nazi lawmaker who tore up a paper copy of the Turkish flag during a debate in the Brussels-based assembly last month.
Yiannis Lagos, an independent MEP, was on Tuesday ordered to pay a fine of 2,261 euros, which was said to be the equivalent of his weekly paycheck.
He was also banned from the assembly for four days.

"The right to be heard does not automatically include the right to be taken seriously," the American politician Hubert H. Humphrey said. Neither does it oblige one to offer a platform to the speaker in question, one might add.

A neo-Nazi who killed two people in eastern Germany on Oct. 9originally planned to storm a mosque, according to a manifesto apparently written by him and posted online.

A prominent Turkish-German lawmaker told local media on Jan. 14 she has recently received death threats from neo-Nazis.
