Ferry services to Kefalonia, Zakynthos islands shut down

Very strong winds have cut off passenger shipping routes to the island of Kefalonia, as a long-awaited weather front begins to make itself felt.

Winds are blowing up to Force 9 speeds (75-88 km per hour).

On the island of Zakynthos, a ferry service from the Peloponnese operated Sunday afternoon, but the route is expected to shut down until Monday morning.

Weather Forecast: Mostly Cloudy with Moderate Wind

It will be mostly cloudy today, foggy in the plains, with light rain in some places in the south and west. Clouds will temporarily break in the northeast areas, at the end of the day in the southwestern, as well. A moderate wind will start blowing from the southeast. The maximum temperatures will be mostly between 15C and 20C.

Powerful Tornado in Greece (VIDEO)

A tornado blew off the storages of an entire olive oil factory in the town of Kalamata in southern Greece, NOVA reported.

The strong whirlwind struck on November 4 in the afternoon and was captured by the plant's security cameras, local media reported.

Most of the warehouses have been destroyed. The strong wind also lifted cars that were parked near the plant.

NIMH: It's Getting Colder, Rain Is Expected in the Northern and Eastern Part of the Country

Today, cloud will continue to increase from the north and by the evening it will cover the entire country, but rain will only occur in the northern and eastern areas. The wind from the northeast will increase, bringing cold air. Maximum temperatures will be in a wide range from 9-10C in the northeast to 22C in the southwest.

NIMH: Sunny Weather Today, with Temperatures Between 22C and 27C

It will be sunny today, though foggy in the morning for eastern areas. There will be light northeast wind. Maximum temperatures between 22C and 27C, for Sofia - about 24C. Atmospheric pressure will not change significantly and will remain higher than the average for the month.

Yellow Code for Strong Wind in 6 Bulgarian Districts on October 3rd

Windy weather with considerable clouds awaits us in the afternoon on Thursday.

Yellow code for strong winds has been announced in 6 districts of the country for October 3rd, according to the site of the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology.

It is in force for the regions Vidin, Montana, Vratsa, Pleven, Veliko Tarnova and Ruse.
