Lampič wins cross-country sprint bronze at world championships
Oberstdorf – Slovenian cross-country skier Anamarija Lampič won the bronze medal in the women’s classical sprint at the Nordic World Ski Championships in Germany’s Oberstdorf on Thursday. She missed out on the silver medal by a mere 0.02 seconds.
French biathletes win single mixed relay in Pokljuka
Pokljuka – France’s Antonin Guigonnat and Julia Simon are the winners of Thursday’s single mixed relay event as part of the Biathlon World Championships in Slovenia’s Pokljuka. The Slovenian pair of Jakov Fak and Polona Klemenčič were 13th.
The silver medal went to Johannes Thingnes Boe and Tiril Eckhoff of Norway, and Sweden’s Sebastian Samuelsson and Hanna Öberg won bronze.
Biathlon: Laegreid takes men’s individual tile
Pokljuka – Norway’s Sturla Holm Laegreid took his second gold at the Biathlon World Championship on Pokljuka on Wednesday, beating Germany’s Arnd Peiffer and compatriot Johannes Dale in the men’s individual event.

Sweden’s Ponsiluoma wins men’s sprint event in Pokljuka
Pokljuka – Sweden’s Martin Ponsiluoma won the men’s sprint at the Biathlon World Championships in Pokljuka on Friday in what was a surprising finish at the first individual event. Second and third places went to France’s Simon Desthieux and Emilen Jacquelin, respectively.
Biathlon World Championships start in Slovenia’s Pokljuka
Pokljuka – Competitions at the 2021 Biathlon World Championships will start on the Alpine plateau of Pokljuka on Wednesday in what is the biggest winter sports event in Slovenia so far. Running until 21 February, the event will feature 337 competitors from 38 countries.
Two top-three finishes for Slovenian ski jumpers
Klingenthal/Linz – Slovenia ski jumpers won two World Cup podium positions on Saturday as Bor Pavlovčič finished third in Klingenthal, Germany for his first-ever top-three finish, whereas Nika Križnar was the runner-up in Hinzenbach, Austria.

Slovenian biathletes to shoot for medals in Pokljuka
Ljubljana – The Biathlon World Championships 2021 starts next week in Slovenia’s Pokljuka in what will be the biggest winter sports event in the country so far. Slovenian biathletes have their eyes set on the medals, Janez Ožbolt of the Slovenian Ski Association said ahead of the tournament.
Health workers may be spectators at Biathlon Pokljuka
Ljubljana – The organisers of the Pokljuka Biathlon World Cup said on Wednesday they were working on having at least some spectators present at the competition despite the epidemic. They would like to invite immunised health workers to Pokljuka to have at least a few people cheer for the athletes and to show appreciation for their Covid-19 efforts.
Biathlete Fak third in World Cup mass start event in Italy
Anterselva – Slovenia’s Jakov Fak finished third in the men’s Biathlon World Cup mass start in Italy’s Anterselva on Sunday to announce good form ahead of the Biathlon World Championships, which will take place in Slovenia’s Pokljuka on 9-21 February.
Rogla to host part of Snowboarding World Championships
Zreče – The Slovenian ski resort of Rogla will host a part of this year’s Freestyle Ski and Snowboarding World Championships, with the the parallel giant slalom and parallel slalom disciplines to be held there on 1 and 2 March.
