Grexit: Greece must decide

It is difficult to understand why there is so much jubilation in Cuba or among Turkey's romantic socialists over the Greek "oxi" (no) vote and the subsequent developments in Greece. Does Greece have an incredible amount of debt? It does. Should it pay it? It should. Can it compare the situation with the post-war situation and the conditions Germany and the World War II victors "agreed" upon?

Eurogroup: Finns push for Greece to leave EZ

Three Finnish large Finnish news channels – MTV3, HS and YLE – are all reporting that Finland wants Greece out of the Eurozone. The usually outspoken Finnish FinMin Alexander Stubb did not make a statement on his arrival. The right-wing, euro-sceptic True Finns that are coalition partners in the new Finnish government are pushing for a Grexit.

White House welcomes Greek govt proposal

The White House said on Friday it welcomed the latest proposal by the Greek government to resolve its “euro crisis” and that it was something for that country’s creditors to weigh.

“We are pleased to see that Greece has taken the step of putting forward a specific proposal, but it’s one that their creditors will have to evaluate,” White House spokesman Josh Earnest told reporters.

Greek PM Alexis Tsipras will ask European partners for an immediate disbursement of seven billion euros within the next 48 hours, as cash is running out in the Greek banking system, despite a continuing “bank holiday” and capital controls limiting withdrawals to 60 euros per day, per account.

EU Commission, Parliament Presidents Express Opposition to Grexit

European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker and European Parliament President Martin Schulz expressed opposition to Greece leaving the eurozone.

Juncker, who spoke in front of the European Parliament in Strasbourg on Tuesday, said that he is against Grexit and such a development should be clearly avoided.
