The aging reformed mobster who has admitted stealing a pair of ruby slippers that Judy Garland wore in "The Wizard of Oz" gave into the temptation of "one last score" after an old mob associate led him to believe the famous shoes must be adorned with real jewels to justify their $1 million insured value.

Dorothy’s dress sold for $1.56 million
The dress worn by Hollywood screen star Judy Garland when she played Dorothy in “The Wizard of Oz” was auctioned at $1.56 million in New York. It was the chief highlight in a sale by Bonhams auction house where 400 pieces of Hollywood memorabilia were auctioned. Total sales by the auction house and Turner Classic Movies netted total sales worth more than $4 million.
