Women MPs from region work together for more equality

BELGRADE -- Women parliament members from 12 countries of Southeastern Europe signed at the Serbian parliament on Tuesday a memorandum of cooperation.

The document is meant to bring more gender equality in those countries, head of the Women's Parliamentary Network in the Serbian assembly Marija Obradovic has said.

Brelfie: The new trend which provokes social media

A new trend in social media is called “brelfies”. It calls young mothers to take selfies while they breastfeed.

 

This new trend comes as a reaction to the social media ban on a mother who uploaded a picture while she was breastfeeding. The mother was accused of breaking social media rules on naked content.

UN chief Ban Ki-moon launched Oct. 30 a global campaign to end the often deadly practice of female genital mutilation within a generation, as survivors said it had "shattered" their lives.
      
"The mutilation of girls and women must stop in this generation, our generation," Ban said on a visit to the Kenyan capital Nairobi.
      

More abortions than births in Serbia

BELGRADE - Serbs are the oldest nation in Europe in terms of the average age of the population, and the statistical data indicate that women give birth to 1.4 children on average, while the average number of abortions is 2.8, the participants of a meeting entitled Protection of Motherhood in Serbia said on Wednesday.
