Bulgaria: Business Will Have Breath of Air in Pandemic, New Aid Program Is Worth BGN 78 M

Bulgaria's government launches a new measure to support business in time of crisis. It is worth over BGN 78 million. From today until March 15, small companies with an annual turnover of over BGN 500,000 in 2019may apply for aid. The other requirement is that the business has a drop in turnover of at least 20% in 2020 compared to the previous year.

Study shows 1 in 2 employees have experienced sexual harassment in workplace

Over half the participants in a study conducted by the Social Action and Innovation Centre (KMOP) in Greece reported having experienced sexual harassment in their professional lives.

The study is part of a wider European initiative, "Teamwork," that seeks to combat sexual harassment in the workplace.

Total turnover in Turkish economy jumps 38.9% in November

Turkey's turnover index soared 38.9% in November over the same month in 2019, the statistical authority announced on Jan. 13. 

The index saw the biggest change in the industry and trade sector, up 46.2% and 44.6%, respectively, year-on-year in November, TÜİK figures showed.

The construction index saw a 16.6% annual rise, while the services sector posted an increase of 16%.

The countdown has started for the fifth phase of the popular "Deposit To Be Returned" program - cheap state loans that thousands of enterprises and freelance professionals are relying on to cover their losses from the lockdown and the Christmas turnover they have missed out on.

Startuppers feeling upbeat

Despite the ongoing health crisis, a number of enterprises are optimistic about what 2021 may hold. A recent ICAP survey showed that while five out of 10 enterprises expect their turnover this year to be smaller than in 2019, they still consider it will be an improvement on 2020.

Economy Minister: BGN 156 Million Will Be Redirected to Closed Companies in Bulgaria

BGN 156 million will be redirected for the implementation of the new anti-crisis measure in support of the businesses in Bulgaria closed by the order of the Minister of Health.

The aid will be differentiated, depending on the lost turnover, announced the Minister of Economy Lachezar Borisov.

Turkish economy sees total turnover down 20.9% in April

The Turkish economy's total turnover saw an annual decrease of 20.9% in April, the nation's statistical institute reported on June 12.

The Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) said turnover in industry slipped 24.9% during the same period.

On the services side, the turnover index declined 23.9% and the figure in trade fell 17.4% year-on-year.

Total turnover up 5.2% in March in Turkish economy

The Turkish economy posted an annual rise in total turnover in March, the country's statistical authority announced on May 14. 

"Total turnover index including industry, construction, trade, and services sectors increased by 5.2% on annual basis in March 2020," said the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK).

Turkey's total economic turnover surges in February

The total turnover of Turkey's economy jumped 22.2 percent year-on-year in February, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) announced on April 13.

The total turnover index for the industry rose 17.1 percent, construction 8.3 percent, trade 28.2 percent and services 19.8 percent on annual basis in February 2020, according to TÜİK data.
