World Bank's ex-CEO Kristalina Georgieva Accused on Exerting Pressure on Bank's staff to Boost China's Ranking in "Doing Business 2018" Report

World Bank leaders, including then-Chief Executive Kristalina Georgieva, applied "undue pressure" on staff to boost China's ranking in the bank's "Doing Business 2018" report, according to an independent investigation released Thursday.

World Bank provided $1.5 bln in financing to Turkey

The World Bank said on July 15 that it extended financing worth $1.5 billion for five critical development projects during Fiscal Year 2021. 

Recalling that the country fought the impacts of COVID-19, the bank said the financial support contributed to the implementation of Turkey's 11th National Development Plan as laid out in the Bank's Country Partnership Framework.

Turkey sends 50,000 more COVID vaccine doses to Northern Cyprus

Turkey sent 50,000 additional doses of a coronavirus vaccine to the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) on June 21. 

A Health Ministry plane carrying the doses landed at Ercan International Airport in Lefkosa, where officials from the TRNC's Health Ministry received the shipment.

With the latest delivery, Turkey has provided the TRNC with 290,000 vaccine doses to date.

Gov't approves three-month extension of withdrawal deadline for IBRD healthcare reform loan proceeds

The government approved today the amendment regarding the three-month extension until March 31, 2021 of the deadline for the withdrawal of the proceeds of a 250 million euro IBRD loan granted for the reform of the Romanian healthcare system.
