Protectionism 'hurting performance' of Turkish exports

Rising protectionism is hurting the performance of Turkish exporters, head of Turkish Exporters Assembly (T?M) said on Oct. 5.

In a speech at the G-20 in Istanbul, T?M?s Mehmet Büyükek?i said, ?Protectionism is increasing in every market around the world and it is affecting not only Turkish exports, but also Foreign Direct Investment [FDI] in Turkey.?

OECD cuts global growth outlook for 2015, 2016

The OECD cut its world economic growth forecasts for 2015 and 2016 on Sept. 16, warning of a dramatic slowdown in Brazil and a global outlook clouded by uncertainty over China.

The policy analysis club of 34 advanced economies had already slashed its economic forecasts just three months ago because of U.S. weakness.

Istanbul to host energy efficiency financing forum

Istanbul will host a forum on energy efficiency financing that is sponsored by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) on Sept. 16-17.

The forum, entitled "Building a Global Energy Efficiency Financing Alliance," will be held in partnership with the United Nations Environment Program Finance Initiative.

Romania MPs to Vote on New Deal With Lenders

Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta says that Romania could continue to have some sort of agreement with the International Monetary Fund and the European Commission, but that parliament will decide on the issue.

"Parliament is to vote on whether Romania should seek a new deal from international lenders when the current one expires this month," Ponta said early this week.

G-20 ministers meet world business leaders in Ankara

Top officials from the world's major 20 economies (G-20) and global business leaders have agreed on the latter's 19-item list of demands to solve problems in the world economy, upon a meeting in Ankara attended by treasury ministers, central bank heads from the G-20 countries and business leaders from the international business community, daily Hürriyet reported on Sept. 6.
