Turkey bans ads on Twitter, Periscope, Pinterest

Turkey banned social media sites that have failed to hire local representatives from advertising on Jan. 19, according to the Official Gazette. 

Last October, a new social media law came into effect in the country which obligates social media sites that are accessed over a million times per day in Turkey to hire a local representative.

Facebook says starts process of appointing Turkey representative

Facebook Inc said on Jan. 18 it had started the process of appointing a legal entity as a local representative in Turkey in compliance with a new social media law.

Last year, Turkey imposed a fine of 40 million Turkish liras ($5.43 million) on multiple social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, for not complying with the law.

The wick is still lit

The citizens of a country were justifiably angry with their political system and leadership. But suddenly they felt an unprecedented feeling of liberation. It was fully accepted that you could verbally abuse or even throw a yogurt at a politician. It was no longer taboo. Suddenly you could "meet" other angry fellow citizens and share your anger.

All Google Services including Youtube Go Down

All Google business services went down globally on 12:00 PM GMT, Gmail, Meets, Calendar, Docs, etc. in addition to Youtube are responding with error code 500.

Google Search and Maps are partially operating, as Google images service from the search-toolbar is down, and searching for a location/address in Maps returns with errors again./adigitalboom.com
