Croatian Tourist Boom Runs Short of Workers

Despite a successful season, the Croatian tourism sector is short of at least  2,700 workers,  unions say, blaming the gap mainly on poor pay and working conditions.

Eduard Andric, president of the Croatian Tourism and services trade union, told BIRN that "poor working conditions are the key reason for the lack of workers in tourism.

CEZ Bulgaria: 'Non-Consolidated Net Profit Rose to BGN 20.8M' in the 1st Half of 2017

CEZ Distribution Bulgaria, majority owned by Czech power utility group CEZ, said on Monday its non-consolidated net profit rose to BGN 20.8 million in the first half of 2017, from BGN 11.8 million in the like period of 2016, SEE News Reports.

Deputy Prime Minister Mehmet Şimşek has said the worst is over for the Turkish economy, adding that it was time to leap ahead for the economy. 

In an interview with daily Milliyet on July 31, Şimşek said Turkey lured nearly $5 billion foreign direct investment (FDI) in the first five months of the year. 

Turkey's tourism revenue sees strong recovery in second quarter

Turkey's tourism revenue has shown strong recovery in the second quarter of the year after a tough period amid a series of problems, the official data showed on July 31. 

In the second quarter of the year, the country's tourism revenue rose to $5.4 billion with an 8.7 percent year-on-year increase, according to data from the Turkish Statistic Institute (TÜİK).
