Asset Rows Slow Sale of Serbia's Neglected Spas

Long-drawn-out court cases to determine who owns the assets of Serbia's 50 or so spas - many of which are run down - are slowing down their announced sale.

Serbia's Ministry of Economy told BIRN that litigation is ongoing between the state fund for pension and disability insurance, PIO, and the spas and the state over the PIO's percentage of ownership of the assets of the spas.

Hahn: Brussels wants Western Balkan nations in EU

TRIESTE - Brussels wants the Western Balkan countries to become EU member states, one of the key reasons being to keep young people in their countries, EU Enlargement Commissioner Johannes Hahn said in Trieste Wednesday.

Speaking at a Western Balkans Six Summit, held as part of the Berlin Process, Hahn said this would reduce tensions from the past.

Just 13 percent of Greeks trusted the government in 2016, according to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development's (OECD) biennial Government at a Glance report, placing Greece among the four member states with the sharpest decline in confidence in their administrations.

Two tourists killed in Egypt knife attack (photos)

Two tourists have been killed and four others wounded after a knife attack at an Egyptian Red Sea resort in Hurghada.
The attacker has been arrested and is currently being interrogated to determine his motives, Egypt’s Interior Ministry said.
The two women who have died are believed to be Ukrainian but no further details have been given.
