S&P keeps Turkey credit rating unchanged

The Standard & Poor's (S&P) ratings agency kept Turkey's credit rating unchanged on May 5, declaring that its outlook remained "negative."

Turkey's foreign currency credit rating held steady at BB, while its local currency credit rating was also preserved at BB+.

Ratings on the country are supported by the government's low debt burden, the agency said in a statement.

Moldova to open trade offices in Turkey

Moldova will establish offices in Turkey to strengthen a free-trade deal signed last year, the country's ambassador to Ankara, Igor Bolboceanu, has told state-run Anadolu Agency.        

Bolboceanu spoke to Anadolu Agency ahead of a two-day visit by senior Turkish businessmen and officials including Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım to Moldova.

Turkey's government is set to realize key reforms in the areas of production, tax, severance pay and new financial instruments in the short run, a top official said May 5. 

Speaking in his opening speech at the Coordination Board for Improving Investment Climate meeting in Ankara, Deputy Prime Minister Nurettin Canikli said Turkey would continue to make reforms.

Turkish hoteliers expect up to 6 pct increase in arrivals from Middle East

A top Turkish hoteliers association has said around 4 to 6 percent of increase is expected in arrivals from the Middle East to Turkey over this year, particularly ahead of and after the holy month of Ramadan. 

In a written statement on May 5, the Hotels Association of Turkey (TÜROB) said there is demand especially for health tourism from the region. 

Minister Zaharieva Promises Balanced Foreign Policy

While taking over the position of a foreign minister of Bulgaria, Ekaterina Zaharieva commented that the priorities of this country's foreign policy were clear and the new cabinet would stick to those, BNR reported.

By pointing out that the world was not over with the EU and the USA, Zaharieva assured that the state would strive for a balanced foreign policy.
