Municipality, Part of the Metropolitan Area in Venezuela Introduced its Own Currency
In the conditions of high inflation, covering the whole of Venezuela, the authorities in one of the municipalities in the metropolitan area of Katia decided to put into circulation their own currency.
Counterfeit Banknotes Worth EUR 28 Million were Seized in Italy
Italian police said they had seized over 900,000 counterfeit banknoets of good quality worth 28 million euros. 13 people were arrested, France press reports.

ECB Puts New EUR 20 Note into Circulation
A new EUR 20 bank note entered into circulation on Wednesday, the European Central Bank announced.
The new note is more resistant to counterfeiting and includes a new kind of security feature: a "portrait window" near the top of the hologram stripe, which becomes transparent when seen against the light.

Collector owns Ottoman sultan's unseen banknote
Fifth emission 500 kuru?, which was printed by an Ottoman sultan in 1849 but has never been seen so far, was found with a collector in Ankara.
The owner of the banknote, researcher and writer Necati Do?an, said the banknotes were launched for the first time in the Ottoman era in the period of Abdülmecit in 1840 with the name "Kaime-i Nakdiye-i Mütebere."

UniCredit’s Erik Nielsen’s caustic comments to Greece
Erik Nielsen, UniCredit SpA Chief Global Economist stated that the producion of new banknotes would not be an “easy task for a government that cannot organize a barbecue, frankly speaking,” during an interview on Bloomberg television on Friday. “I really don’t believe they have either the political or technical capability of starting their own currency.
Banknote printer fortress advances amid Greek speculation

Fortress Paper Ltd., a printer of banknotes, rose the most in two years as a website said the company may have a contract with the Greek government.
Fortress gained 22 percent to C$3.78 in Toronto trading. The shares have climbed 65 percent this month.
