Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic stressed this in Beijing, after his meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping and in a separate, multi-hour conversation with Xi's closest associates.

Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras and Foreign Minister Yorgos Katrougalos are in China for the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation, based on the ancient Silk Road, linking East and Southeast Asia with East Africa, West Asia, and southern Europe.

Speaking at a panel organized by China's Communist Party ahead of the Second Belt and Road Forum in Beijing, the Serbian president stressed that cooperation between people should not be treated as a matter on the sidelines, but that this is instead the basis for building all other forms of cooperation.

Vucic will, in addition to bilateral issues, talk with Xi Jinping and Vladimir Putin primarily about Kosovo and Metohija.

The U.S. and China are planning two rounds of face-to-face meetings as they seek to wrap up a trade deal, with negotiators aiming for a signing ceremony in late May or early June, according to people familiar with the situation.
