Yacht building becomes lucrative business in Antalya

The free zone in the southern province of Antalya is one of the global centers of yachts, especially for luxury yacht building, with revenues from such operations amounting to nearly $2 billion in more than two decades. 

Last year alone, a record number of 93 yachts were built and delivered to their owners, according to Zeki Gürses, the general manager of Antalya Free Zone.

Full speed ahead on boating vacations

Boating vacations, which in previous years appealed to a narrower audience in the summer season, continue to grow with the effect of daily rental models, thanks to the increasing isolated vacation habits after the pandemic.

This season, the increase in demand from those who want to vacation by renting a boat draws attention. Göcek Gulf has an important place again as the first route.

Turkish yacht sector eyes record $1.7 bln export

After witnessing a sharp rise amid the coronavirus pandemic, the Turkish yacht sector is eyeing to reach a record export of $1.7 billion in 2022, an expert has said.

"The demand for Turkish mega and smaller yachts has soared in the last three years," Cem Seven, the head of the Turkish Ship, Yacht and Services Exporters' Association (GYHİB), told the daily Milliyet on Aug. 19.

Gates’ daughter holidaying in Bodrum

Jennifer Gates, daughter of Bill Gates, one of the richest people in the World, has chosen the Aegean tourism destination Bodrum for vacation, daily Milliyet has reported.

Jennifer Gates' visit came to light when her father's 107-meter long super yacht "Lana" anchored off Bodrum.

"Just after the yacht anchored, Jennifer Gates came with a tender," the daily wrote on July 4.
